新型インフルエンザで初の死者

日本国内で初めて新型インフルエンザの感染者が見つかったのは５月１６日。
現在までの感染者は５,０００人を超えました。
しかし、幸い、これまで新型インフルエンザによる死者はいませんでした。
ところが、今週、国内で初めての死者が出ました。
８月１６日、５７歳の男性が新型インフルエンザで死亡しました。
この男性は腎臓の病気がありました。
また、１８日、７７歳の男性が死亡しました。
この男性も腎臓の病気がありました。
さらに、１９日、８１歳の女性が死亡しました。
この女性は心臓の病気がありました。
新型インフルエンザに感染しても、ほとんどの人は回復します。
でも、高齢者や幼児は注意が必要です。
また、インフルエンザは冬の病気だと思われていましたが、
新型インフルエンザは夏でも流行するようです。
ちなみに、現在一番感染者が多い所は沖縄県。
日本で一番暑い所です。

２１日山口県で土砂崩れのため大きな被害が出ましたが、 ２４日から２６日にかけて、九州や広島県、山口県で大雨が降りました。
この大雨のため、各地で洪水が起きたり、土砂崩れが起きました。
２７日午後現在、死者２６人、行方不明４人という大きな被害が出ています。
日本は山が多くて、山の斜面にたくさんの家が建っています。
ですから、土砂崩れはとても危険です。

I found this website (CosCom) to be a great, an awesome, a brilliant, resource for improving your reading, listening and vocabulary skills.
If you go to it's "weather and News" button you'll have plenty of stuff to learn. I just learned that 地震 (じしん) means earthquake (and no, I still haven't learned the second kanji).


１１日、午前５時ごろ、静岡県で強い地震がありました。
気象庁によると、地震の震度は６。
電車が止まったり、道路が通行止めになっていますが、幸い、大きな被害は出ていません。
「震度」については "Intermediate Japanese"の"Jishin"を参照してください。
「震度６」の揺れはとても強い揺れです。
通常、震度６の地震では大きな被害が出ます。
この地震、本当に震度６だったんでしょうか。

ちなみに、東京の震度は４でした。
